This week, at Koding Tech Select, we set out to touch on a series of topics that are closely related to global events in recent months, from all fields of activity. Whether we're talking about tech, business or politics, they're all related and you know it (at least you should ?).
What I noticed in particular last week:
- Facebook goes further with the deprivation of privacy and urges its iOS users to allow phone-wide tracking – for better ad placement, they say;
- Signal it wants greater growth, and for this it is adding a series of functionalities to the platform that users are already used to, such as wallpaper customization, access to stickers and the introduction of an "about you" section;
- Microsoft is working on optimizing Teams for those who "get their CPU going to their head" and is introducing features such as offline autosend and the ability to add up to 10,000 people to a channel - welcome to enterprise chaos!;
- Attempts to "clean up" the image Google continues – this time, with new functionalities on the search results side – aren't they the nicest guys in the whole universe??;
- Huawei is launching a brand new OS, made by them. What is new and significant about this OS? Only the name, otherwise, we will allow ourselves to say that it is a less successful copy of Android, the OS used until recently by Huawei. The conclusion? As the guys at arstechnica say, “fake it till you make it”;
- Last but not least, Apple a new update is coming – iOS 14.5. What's new? You have the ability to connect your Xbox or PlayStation controller to your phone/tablet and, if you are also an Apple Watch user, you can unlock your phone through facial recognition even when you have a mask. While it notifies you when you cross paths with a person who has had the "Chinese" virus.
