Here we are at Episode 14 of Koding Tech Select. We are starting to enjoy this column more and more, and we can honestly say that Wednesday has become our favorite day. After all, what could be more interesting for a group of people passionate about technology than discussing what's new in the field and expressing their informed opinions on where all this dizzying evolution is going.
Enough talk, let's start the preview of today's edition:
American politicians believe that a new legislation on limiting the negative impact on children, caused by platforms like YouTube or Facebook is necessary. The new law will prohibit the autoplay function in applications dedicated to children, unboxing videos for products dedicated to children, and the collection of data for children under 13.
Certainly a good measure, considering that the aforementioned platforms are far from promoting an educational space, as they have officially declared, but rather a space from which they can collect data and covertly promote consumerism among children.
The Vietnamese government seems very determined to start the fight against Big Tech companies, through two legislative initiatives. The first initiative considers the creation of digital taxes, giving banks the opportunity to retain part of the money paid by users to the platforms. The second initiative aims at requiring e-commerce platforms to create a special search engine for the Vietnamese government, with access to user data, so that counterfeit goods can be more easily investigated. The initiative, which is otherwise interesting, brings into discussion the issues of security and privacy, regarding which we hope that the Government already has a well-developed plan. Or if not, I can easily call on the team cybersecurity specialists from KodingTech. ?
Nvidia and AstraZeneca, two names whose association may sound at least bizarre, have joined forces to use AI technology to analyze massive data sets for drug discovery. An interesting piece of news whose evolution is worth following. We'll take care of it and keep you updated.
Elon Musk, "loyal customer" of the Koding Tech column, announces that Starlink will be fully operational by the end of 2021. The network promises us access to satellite internet at very high speeds through a portable antenna, which could be a real advantage for ships, planes and even trucks.
TikTok launches Business Creative Hub, a new tool that helps businesses identify trends and build communities. Therefore, the support shown to brands is increasing, which transforms the network into a promoter of the trade area.
We hope that the above news is another argument in favor of our colleague Silviu's idea to launch the KodingTech TikTok Channel?). Go, go, @Silviu! To as much creative content as possible!
