In India, the COVID19 situation is escalating: The government issues takedown orders to social media platforms regarding criticism of the measures adopted by the authorities. Whether or not it is aligned with the discourse on freedoms and rights, we see in this edition of Koding Tech Select.  

Former Google research manager Samy Bengio has been hired by Apple to oversee its new AI research unit. Given that Bengio previously oversaw Google's AI ethics team, we can only hope that he will have the wisdom not to violate the confidentiality clauses specified in the contract.  

The Colonial Pipe, the largest oil pipeline in the US, was the victim of a cyberattack that stopped the transport of oil from the Gulf area to important markets like Washington or New York. The attackers are part of a cyberattack group called DarkSide and claim to have stolen approximately 100 gigabytes of data in just two hours. What measures is the Biden Administration taking in this case and how does this event influence the price of oil, we will discuss together, tonight, from 19.00.  

YouTube reveals a small preview of their plans to make the platform "more shoppable". Basically, YouTube is going to introduce a new interactive feature that will allow users to learn more about the products they see on the screen with just a click. The feature will definitely be much more useful to marketers than users, to whom we wish a lot of inspiration in the creative process. 

Just ten days after launch, Apple's AirTag device was hacked by a German researcher who managed to modify the software of the lost item finder so that the user is redirected to another address. The subject will be interesting to follow to see Apple's reaction in this regard and what improvements they will make in the future regarding this otherwise useful device.
