Koding Tech Select Episode 5

Hello, hello, people! Because #techgeeks, we present you a short selection of tech industry news from the last few days. We have it all, to quote a classic in life. From gaming, to wearable tech, digital space, hardware, so we're sure to find something that interests you.

Mr. Zuckerberg seems to have lost his way in the spotlight.. As such, the news of the week related to Facebook, aims to produce a smartwatch that uses Android as its operating system. This comes after many other failed attempts to produce hardware.

Do you remember the much-coveted Facebook Phone? The wonderful smartphone that lasted exactly one month on the market? Combining this information with the fact that WearOS is present in 10% on the market, with the “very good” image that Google and Facebook have recently acquired in the eyes of the masses, the result is not a positive one. But, bring it on! We like to be watched “for the good of humanity”. Wait…Not! FUFB ?

If we talked about trespassing, we would say not to omit bill proposed by the North Dakota State Senate. This proposes that obligations from software developers regarding the use of a specific payment system or a specific app download store should be considered illegal. One of the causes of the outbreak seems to have been the scandal between Epic Games and Apple, after Epic launched an alternative payment system within the famous Fortnite, a system banned by Apple within a few hours. Hey Apple, stop being so greedy! Although we know that North Dakota is one of the states with a high percentage of the "woke" population, we can only rejoice at the sight of this type of mass anti-globalization actions. We are observing a trend at the level of American states regarding actions taken against oligarchic rules imposed in the digital space. Arizona has a bill under analysis, similar to the one in North Dakota. California and Virginia have already passed laws regarding the privacy of data circulating in the digital space, and Maryland has just imposed a tax that can reach up to 10% of annual gross revenue for digital advertisements targeting Maryland users. GOGO, show must go on! We have popcorn!?

For all lovers of gaming, mining and more, we have good news! Nvidia announced the launch the new RTX 3060 video cards on February 25th and is announced to be the cheapest in the RTX 3000 series, at just 329$. We say it's a good move in the midst of shortages ?. In addition, the news from Nvidia continues with the confirmation of the return of the RTX 2060 and GTX 1050 Ti to the market. Considering that we have dozens of requests on hold, we can only hope that with this news, stocks of the video cards will appear overnight ?.

Also from the area of launches and gaming, Microsoft launches, next month, Xbox wireless headsets. Intended for Xbox users, they connect via Bluetooth, primarily with Xbox One consoles, but also with those in the X and S series. In the second plan (quite important for those who don't have an Xbox at home, but want a good pair of headphones at a not very high price), we have connectivity (also via Bluetooth) to PCs and mobile devices. Being dedicated to gaming enthusiasts, Microsoft says that they have managed to improve the microphone quality compared to previous models, taking into account party chats in games. Also, as in the case of the Surface headphones, the speakers rotate for easy volume control. Among other things, Microsoft boasts a life of up to 15 hours and one of up to 4 hours, with only 30 minutes of charging via Type-C. We'll wait a little longer and come back after a detailed test.

Since we have linked the news together, let's continue with Microsoft. What's new? An all-in-one app for the iPad, combining Word, Excel and PowerPoint. An interesting feature seems to us to be the “Actions” section, where we find a series of useful features (we would say) for everyday work (of course, we don’t recommend working on a tablet, but can we understand its functionality in more creative jobs?). Among the functions we find here, we have the following: file transfer between devices, OCR and text extraction from an image, extracting a table from an image and converting it to an Excel file, scanning QR codes, creating questionnaires using Microsoft Forms, scan to pdf, picture to pdf, document to pdf, pdf to word, as well as signing a pdf. Although already available in the App Store, this application requires a Microsoft 365 subscription to access all its features. Sounds cool, but is that part with the subscription confusing you? Considering our status as a Microsoft partner, we can certainly help you purchase a subscription Microsoft 365 which comes with many more advantages than those targeting the all-in-one application.?

Windows is screwing up (again?!). A vulnerability has just been discovered in Windows Defender. Brand new, some would say. We'll let you decide how brand new it is or not after 12 years. What does this vulnerability do? After detecting an infected file, Windows Defender extracts that file and replaces it with a "clean" file. What's the problem here? The system doesn't check that file and it can be used mercilessly by an attacker. Sounds like déjà vu? We'll tell you more tonight, from 7:00 PM, on our Youtube channel, at KodingTech Select Episode 5.
