Coding Tech Select Episode 6

Is it Wednesday already? Yes, and that's because time is relative depending on how fast you move. What was I trying to get at? The fact that things are moving fast and that I've already prepared a list of tech events that have happened since our last conversation, last week:
  1. Instagram adds special support for people suffering from 'eating disorders' – nice, but the sequel is very interesting: it plans to encourage 'positive body image' and fight against physical discrimination. That is, if someone is fat, it's not their fault, it's from the gland or something. Thus, we normalize a deviant behavior and, moreover, harmful to the health of those affected. Because the traditional system through which we managed to evolve, in which the people around us observe our behavior and let us know if we are going too far, suddenly is no longer acceptable (source).
  1.  Big Tech Detective – a browser extension that blocks access to sites that communicate with IPs owned by Google, Facebook, Microsoft or Amazon. Although it sounds good, this means goodbye to any website that uses 'Google Fonts', is hosted on AWS or Azure ☹. (source
  1. And because we're going to discuss it tomorrow, in the Coding Connect 40, about Crypto, Nvidia launches a dedicated mining processor that promises to reduce the Hash Rate by 50%. Also, marketing or not, Nvidia swears that the GeForce RTX 3060 GPUs are built to understand and detect specific attributes of the Ethereum mining algorithm. (source
  1. Facebook is stealing from those who promote their ads through Facebook Ads. How? Well, the report at the end of the campaign is also generated by them. There is no way to check if your post reached 100 or 1000 people. What is the main source of income for Facebook Ads? So, if we move a comma in each report, the difference from reality is in the billions?. (source
  1. Facebook, Google and Twitter are showing up in front of the US House. Finally! Ah, the reason is that they had to censor even more information about Covid19 and the American elections. Okay, I'm not getting into it, just saying. (source
  1. In the name of improving the user experience, which is the most common reason lately, YouTube is slowly but surely turning into TikTok. YouTube Shorts will be available starting in March in America. The feature was already launched in September last year on the Indian market and has recorded over 3.5 billion views per day (source).
