Microsoft Teams: New Features – December 2020

Microsoft Teams has seen a huge surge in popularity, and it's no secret. The surge coincides with the start of the pandemic, which has forced most of us to learn to work remotely:

Due to the fact that Microsoft Teams is the main collaboration and communication tool for us, but also for many of our partners, we thought we would present you with some interesting functionalities that have appeared recently: 

1. Noise Suppression – currently only on browser

To enable this feature in Microsoft Teams, click on your profile picture > Settings > Devices > Noise Supression.

Low – blocks fan sounds, air conditioning – suitable if you want music to be heard in the background. 

High – blocks everything that is not voice – tested works very well. 

PS: the function is automatically deactivated if recording is started during the call or meeting. 

2. PIN Posts – Microsoft Teams now gives you the ability to PIN important messages.

Moreover, you can go to any channel, and in the top right, on the exclamation mark, you can see the forgotten PIN messages, participants and updates:

3. Appear Offline 

A functionality Microsoft Teams with which you will be able to get a few moments of peace, if you are working on an activity that you do not want to be disturbed.

4. Create a team from templates:

5. Advanced Meeting Settings  

Once you have created a meeting in Microsoft Teams, you can change a number of advanced meeting-level settings:

You can also prepare questionnaires within that meeting by adding a new Forms tab:

6. Other 

New Shortcut –> CTRL + Shift + M – mute yourself – in meetings. 

Bonus: CTRL + . – for all shortcuts in Teams

Raise hand – during a meeting, orders participants in the order of raising their hands
